Texas Book Festival Announces 2020 Texas Library Grant Winners, Including Your Local Library!
Texas Book Festival is proud to announce the 2020 Texas Library Grant Recipients, featuring 42 libraries across the state including your local library, the Schulenburg Public Library. The Texas Book Festival is also excited to welcome and highlight new grant recipients working to serve their communities as they navigate and persist through the current COVID-19 crisis, including North Richland Hills Public Library, Ritler C. Hulsey Public Library, Nicholas P. Sims Library, and Laguna Vista Public Library.
The Texas Book Festival gives out grants to libraries across Texas each year to grow equity for libraries and communities across the state and to support the hard work of library directors and staff. Since 1996, the organization has funded 1,211 grants totaling more than $3 million to 600+ libraries in every corner of the state-- and this year, your library was chosen.
We must stick together--communities and statewide--to uplift and enhance one another, and what better place to support than the library that fosters our communities. With a vision to inspire Texans of all ages to love reading, the Texas Book Festival connects authors and readers through experiences that celebrate the culture of literacy, ideas, and imagination. Founded in 1995 by former First Lady Laura Bush, Mary Margaret Farabee, and a group of volunteers, the nonprofit Texas Book Festival promotes the joys of reading and writing through its annual Festival, the Texas Teen Book Festival, the Reading Rock Stars Title I elementary school program, the Real Reads Title I middle and high school program, grants to Texas libraries, and year-round literary programming.
