“Libraries Rock”

Readers of all ages will explore all things scientific this summer as the Schulenburg Public Library presents “LIBRARIES ROCK” during their Summer Library Program. Activities will include a marionette show entitled, “Sleeping Beauty and the Handsome Prince”, reptiles, live animals, puppet shows and much more. The purpose of this program is to encourage the youth of our community to check out and read books from the Schulenburg Public Library. The 2018 Summer Reading program is for the following age groups, Read-to-Me (infant to 4 years old) - A Parent or guardian is required to read 15 picture books to them. Age 10-12 - The child is required to read 10 chapter books.

“Libraries Rock” is the 2018 Summer Reading Program Theme. 

 

Readers of all ages will explore all things scientific this summer as the Schulenburg Public Library presents “LIBRARIES ROCK” during their Summer Library Program.  Activities will include a marionette show entitled, “Sleeping Beauty and the Handsome Prince”, reptiles, live animals, puppet shows and much more.  The purpose of this program is to encourage the youth of our community to check out and read books from the Schulenburg Public Library.   The 2018 Summer Reading program is for the following age groups:

Read-to-Me (infant to 4 years old):  A Parent or guardian  is reqired to read 15 picture books to them.

 Age 10-12: The child is required to read 10 chapter books.  

 Families are invited to join the 2018 Texas Reading Program. By doing so, you will help your child retain the reading skills acquired during the school year.  Come sign your child up for the Summer Reading Program;  it begins on June 1, 2018 and ends on July 18, 2018.

 Summer programing begins June 7, 2018 and end on Friday, July 20, 2018.  All programs are free of charge.

June 1           Sign-up starts for the Summer Reading Program.  This year’s theme is “Libraries Rock.”

June 1              Cowboy Music, Roping and Reading featuring Mike Stroup, Bad Bob and Roper Bob presented by F-A-M-E at 10:30AM.

 

June 4              Movie Night at the Library. Movie starts at 5PM.

 June 7              Betty Yoakum from Fayetteville, Texas visits the library with her beautiful, yellow headed, Amazon Parrot, Tookie.

 June 12            Buzz on by the library to meet Michael Kelling from Central Texas Bee Association, Brenham, Texas and see “The World of Bees” with LIVE BEES in the library at 10:30AM.

 June 14            Come meet “Izzie,” a miniature horse, of Mini-Horse Helpers from La Grange, Texas at 10:30AM.

 June 20            “Let’s Eat the Rainbow,” a puppet show presented by Art Jam and F-A-M-E at 10:30 AM.

 June 22            Circus Chicken Dog from Austin, Texas presents six rescued dogs, a talking and singing scarlet Macaw, juggling, clowning, and much more. Come join the fun at 10:30 AM.

June 25            Movie Night at the Library. Movie starts at 5PM.

 June 29            Ranger Cindy Baker, Outreach Coordinator of the Lavaca-Navidad River Authority and Brackenridge Recreation Complex Texana Park & Campground from Edna, Texas presents “Wildlife Rocks” with her animal friends, Caramel, Lucky and Gator at 10:30 AM.

 July 10             Jean Kuecher, puppeteer and producer of the Marionette Playhouse from Houston, Texas will present the delightful French Fairy Tale, “Sleeping Beauty and the Handsome Prince.”  This performance will dazzle all ages with beautiful handcrafted marionettes at 10:30AM.

 July 16             Movie Night at the Library. Movie starts at 5PM.

 July 19             “Safety Around Poisons” will be presented by Tommie Ferguson of the Central Texas Poison Center of Temple, Texas.  This program on safety with household poisons is geared for children at 10:30AM.
